FINAL BLOG

A ROAD TO SUCCESS

To provide necessities and raise $300 was our goal for our Make A Difference project for Karidat.  We have received kind donations from our friends and family. A few things that were donated were clothes for toddlers, men and women, bed sheets, toys and many more. To raise the $300 we had to come up with a fundraising idea. We have come up with selling in school, but that did not work out. So we decided to do a hot lunch. That hot lunch fundraiser was a very successful one! We have stuck with making hot lunch for this whole project. I admit, we had some struggles with the hot lunch, but we kept in the back of our head, there are many unfortunate people out there and they need our help.

This project was such a success because we raised the total amount that we set as our goal.  I believe that our project made a difference in the lives of those who needed it the most. Our mentor, Ms. Elaine, stated that what we provided was a really big help to them and their clients.

If I were to do this again, I would change up the fundraising ideas. The hot lunch was successful, but who knows what if there are other ideas that would be much more successful. I would still do the hot lunch idea because it kept me busy from all the negative things in my life. Making the hot lunch always leaves me feeling good about myself because I know it is for a good cause, making me feel positive.

I would ask my intended audience for a list of things they know they will need. So next time when I do continue this make a difference, hopefully I'll be able to provide some of  those thing on the list. I feel like it would be much easier because even if I am not able to provide everything on that list, my heart will be satisfied knowing that I did try to get everything on that list just to see a smile on their face.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

For this week my group and I discussed that our final hot lunch will be canceled. That was one of the adjustments we decided to make because we have raised a little over what we planned to make from the hot lunch. We have collected clothes from people who donated. This week's accomplishments consists of what to say for our presentation to Karidat and for our TedTalk to the class.

I believe nothing has gone wrong so far. What I have learned through this process is that, sometimes you do not have to go beyond your goal, but when you do it has that sweet victory feeling. My skills, of communication has well improved. I have been communicating more and being open minded to what else can be done. Raising what is more than enough for our goal is an amazing feeling. That is excluded from the clothes that were donated!

My next goal is to show Karidat what my team and I has raised and gained from doing this project. I hope that they will be happy and well relieved that there are people out there who are willing to help this type of charity.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

This week, I accomplished my responsibility of printing and cutting out the tickets for our last hot lunch.

The only thing that has gone wrong was that we haven't had any meetings to fully discuss what will be happening and how to make it the best. The challenge that I truly believe is that my group and I are always at work. It makes it kind of hard to communicate with each other out of class. I learned that we group needs to make time for this project. I believe my skills have improved for this week because I do get my part done on time for this project. We are definitely on time for this project. The only adjustment we have to make editing our timeline for our proposal. We need to include the presentation for Karidat.
My next action is to make sure that my group and I make this final hot lunch the best and the greatest one yet.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE; Final Fundraiser

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

So far, last week, we've accomplished our selling of hot lunch. Now we will be having our last fundraiser for our project. There is nothing that had went wrong so far and we are doing good with what we are doing. The challenge that we are facing right now is finding a way to print our hot lunch tickets. What I have learned is that, not everyone will be able to be  there with your group in a few things because they have other things going on. So I learned how to adjust to not having a complete group when having a meeting, and just message our group chat about what we have discussed.

My communication skill have improved because of that challenge my group and I had. Our communication skills with one another has improved, compared to when we first started with our project.

We are on time with that we want to accomplish, but we do have some adjustments to make which is to extend our timeline, just to have one last fundraiser. So my next action is to sell as much tickets as I can, so that this last fundraiser will the best of them all.

Make a Differnce; HOT LUNCH

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

My group and I have accomplished our goal of selling hot lunch on April 1st. I'd say my partner and I have done a good job preparing the food in the bento box. I really enjoyed being able to do this kind of thing. A few of the things that went wrong Though, someone was able to make the fried chicken and drop it to the airport field, the place we held the event.

The challenges we face was trying to pack the food. It was not easy because we had to pack the food at the place we were holding the event. It was really windy so we had to think of a plan to block the wind a bit. I learned that even if half of the people cannot make it, you’re able to finish what you were striving for as long as you keep trying and never give up. I am more than appreciated that Albert and I were able to get things done before people came.

My skills for working hard has really improved because show more than 100 percent effort when I am doing my part in this project. We’re very right on time for our delivery. The only adjustment we are going to make is extending our hot lunch. My next action is to keep focusing on what we are doing as a team.

Make a Differemce, DONATIONS

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

So far, we've collected donations of clothes from a few people. There are much clothes even if not a lot of people donated. Nothing has gone wrong, yet. We are waiting patiently for people to donate what they can to help make a difference. The challenges we've faced is that, when we ask people if they would want to donate, they would say tomorrow or whatsoever. When the day comes, they tend to say they forgot even if reminded to. I learned that not everyone will want to donate nor make a difference. It is hard, but we are trying to make the best out of everything.

I believe that my patience has improved this week. Many people were testing my patience this week, and I knew how to calm down to relax and make sure that no one will get the best of me. I am trying to make a difference and along the way there will be people who will question why we are helping them. I learned not to make everything other people say get to you. If you want to make a difference, do something! Be passionate about it. I believe my group and I are on track with what we need to do. My next action is to make a successful one on our next hot lunch.

Make A Difference, Project Ayuda Karidat

M.A.D PROJECT BLOG UPDATE

What my group and I have accomplished so far is, selling of the hot lunch tickets. We've donated money to buy the necessities for this lunch. We prepared the hot lunch tickets a little late and only had a few days to sell. The challenging part was really trying to sell the tickets. Many people we not interested in buying when we could not deliver. So for this  week's lesson, I learned that it is good to be ahead about four days or more so that things can be done properly.

I would say that managing my time has improved over the past few days of this week. Even if we were kind of last minute with this hot lunch, we are on track for what we will need to do. We will be giving out the hot lunches tomorrow March 18, 2017 at the Kelili Pavillion. For our timeline, we need to be selling our tickets earlier for our next hot lunch.
My next action for the following week is to convince people to buy tickets and help out Karidat. By then, I can tell the customers my pitch and hopefully that will make them want to buy hot lunch tickets.
